Another large release out from one of my favorite labels, HENCH! MRK1 dropped this two part dubstep EP featuring Doctor on the vocals.
From the label:
“MRK1 & Doctor follow up their previous Hench smash ‘Rapapampam‘ & ‘BO’ with this stunning vocal driven workout. ‘Drop Bass‘ & ‘Judgement‘ are prime examples of today’s cutting edge bass movement. Gaining support by the full Hench crew and A list Dj’s across the globe, this is a H.E.N.C.H. must have!”
MRK1 is one of the first producers to pioneer the genre and is responsible for some of its first releases. Through his productions and DJing, he helped to develop Dubstep into the internationally recognised, chart topping sound that is played all over the world today. In 2004 MRK1, Plastician and Slaughter Mob released an album called “Grime” on Aphex Twins label Rephlex Records, which was one of the key releases that propelled the dubstep / grime sound into the media for the first time. Releases on the likes of H.E.N.C.H, Tempa, Soulja, Vehicle, Polydor, Wall of Sound, Texture, Techonic, Earwax, Eight:FX, Terra Rhythm, Ministry of Sound, and Defected, have seen MRK1 become undoubtedly one of the genre’s most respected figure heads.
When you hear the name Doctor, you’ll probably think of one of the many videos he has appeared in, one of the many radio shows you’ve heard him on, or one of the many smash hits he’s provided but there is so much more to this versatile craftsman of the spoken word, so much more which sets him apart from the rest and distinguishes him as a top artist in the urban scene. Don’t think Doctors rise to the top just happened by chance, this Jamaican born wordsmith is proof that hard work, dedication and masses of talent is the only formula for true success.
