If you weren’t a Getter fan already, his latest album “I Want More” released earlier this week, should be enough to make anyone a believer.
Coming barely a week off of the release of Firepower Records head boss Datsik’s “Cold Blooded EP“, California native Tanner Petulla AKA Getter has dropped this absolute bomb of an album on the same label earlier this week. Despite a long track record of amazing releases, I was still blown away by the magnitude of how excellent this entire album is, and I don’t say that about many.
Especially these days, it’s hard to find an entire EP (much less an 8 track LP) that keeps me replaying it from start to finish, but Getter‘s “I Want More” has had just that effect, at least on me! Getter has always had a signature style expressed by heavy, aggressive bass music with a touch of hip hop to it, making him an absolutely perfect fit for Firepower Records releases.
Despite having a somewhat “identifiable style”, Getter is probably one of the more diverse producers I’ve heard yet, and this album really shows it. For as much truth as there might be to the fact that the world of dubstep/drum and bass is overflowing with mediocre work which simply consists of a half assed drum beat and some distorted wobbles layered over the top, Getter is one of the few which always seems to nail every one of his very large range of production styles. His eight tracks on the I Want More LP range from high energy, aggressive, filthy drum and bass/dubstep (such as in “Papercuts” and “Gunshots“) to skankers like “Fallout“, all the way to more wonky, almost “Eptic”-esque tracks like “Crack That“, each of which are executed flawlessly.
Overall, Getter’s “I Want More” LP is top notch quality through and through. If there was any doubt that Getter was going to remain a household name for fellow bassheads, I can speculate with confidence that he’s not going away anytime soon!

GETTER has taken the underground bass music culture by storm. This San Jose native has been taking over stages across the states for the last two years with a high energy stage presence and bass infused sets he is crushing the dance floor with each banger he drops you. Before he was 18 Getter had already grabbed multiple releases on some underground labels. What he is best known for, are his signature guttural basses he has in his tunes.
Getter is currently being supported by the biggest names in the EDM scene. Datsik, Funtcase, Rusko, Borgore, and Excision are just a few or the producers that have been supporting Getter with his music. 2013 will definitely be an epic year for this young producer, and he is NOT stopping anytime soon! Keep an eye out for this young blood, bass slinger!
